WATCH Students Send 31 Care Packages to Troops

Sheridan High School students collected items this holiday season to send to troops and ended up mailing 31 care packages, according to career center coordinator Tracy Hewitt-Adams.

"We Are the Change" students, a group that advocates for clean and sober living in high school, collected letters, cards and other nonperishable items and sent out boxes last week. Hewitt-Adams explains.

Eleven boxes were sent to a U.S. Army regiment that included Sheridan High School alum Hunter Whohlers, and the remainder sent to a regiment in Bosnia both through the Wyoming Yellow Ribbon Program.

Hewitt-Adams said they received a great response and collected items mostly from community members and staff at the school. She added that they also received help from First Interstate Bank, First Federal Bank and Rocky Mountain Ambulance who combined to cover the $400 in postage.
