Volunteers Wanted to Help Mark Graves

Volunteers will be needed at Sheridan's Municipal Cemetery Friday to help locate and mark the graves of those who have served in the military.

Bob Young, who's coordinating this year's Memorial Day ceremonies, said on Friday, members of the VFW, American Legion, Girl and Boy Scouts and the DAV will be at the cemetery from 3 till 7 p.m. to place stakes on graves.

He said volunteers are wanted to help with this.

Young said on Saturday morning starting at 8 o'clock, flags will be placed on the stakes.

He said the volunteers are wanted, especially family members, so that all of the deceased veterans can be identified and no one is missed.

He said last year, nearly 1,500 flags were placed, but the veterans' organizations feel that not all of the graves have been marked. He said he wants to make sure that every veteran gets the respect that he or she deserves.
