Veterans Day Is Time To Celebrate All Those Who’ve Served Our Country

Sheridan has several Veterans Day events. One is the Veterans Administration Veterans Day program at 11 am in the auditorium at the VA. This year the V.A. is focusing on the story behind the uniform. Col. Kathy Wright of the Wyoming National Guard will be speaking and Ft. Mackenzie students will be reading via video essays about veterans who they interviewed. The highlight of the V.A.'s ceremony is a display of seven Wyoming women uniforms from WWII up to the present, including the only Wyoming Female General fatigues.

Other Veterans Day celebrations include the Senior Center's special lunch program for the holiday at noon in their dining room. There is also an impressive display in the Sr. Center's lobby featuring pictures of Sheridan County veterans and brief bio's of their time in service.

Most government offices and banks are closed for the day, as well. Dayton Mayor Bob Wood says it will create a delay in some town services.

The City of Sheridan will pick up their trash on the regular schedule this week, however the landfill and recycling center will be closed for the holiday.
