UW Wyoming Outreach Using Weather Balloons to Record Eclipse

Posted in

All eyes will be looking up at the sky next year as there will be a solar eclipse on August 21st, 2017. The UW Wyoming Outreach Project will also have their eyes up as they record the eclipse with weather balloons that will be as high as 100,000 feet. These balloons will be equipped with live broadcasting cameras, video and tracking systems on board while they hover above Capser at the time of the full solar eclipse.

Many other groups, including those from Oregon all the way to South Carolina, will also launch similar rigs to heights above 60,000 feet. These videos will be streamed live on NASA’s Website for all to see.
