A husband and wife research team from the University of Wyoming was recently part of a group that made a significant recovery of rocks from the Earth's deepest ocean crust. Geology Professors Michael Cheadle and Barbara John made the discovery in the Pacific Ocean's Hess Deep Rift. Cheadle says the discovery confirms the belief that such rocks are a key part of the lower ocean crust formed at fast-spreading ridges.

Their discovery has been published in the December 1st issue of the international journal, Nature.
