UW Researcher Makes Significant Discovery

A University of Wyoming researcher has discovered what could be an important insight in reversing cancer-associated cell properties caused by genetic mutations in humans. Molecular Biology Professor David Fay studied a strain of a nematode worm that carries a gene mutation similar to one that is inactive in many human cancers. He says the research could potentially reverse tumor or cancer-associated traits in cells.

Fay’s discovery is published in the August issue of the research journal Genetics, one of the world’s most cited journals in genetics and heredity.
