The Windy Ridge Foundation is providing 875-thousand dollars to modernize and renovate the 43-year old University of Wyoming Planetarium. UW Astronomy Professor Danny Dale says the upgraded facility will provide unique training opportunities for students and improve the educational and entertainment experience for planetarium visitors.

The planetarium will be renamed to Honor Windy Ridge Foundation founder Harry C. Vaughn, an astronomy buff who built a personal observatory in his backyard in Laramie. The project is scheduled to be completed when UW classes begin next fall.
