UW Professor Recruiting Students Through Science Lessons

Danny Dale, the University of Wyoming’s Professor of Physics and Astronomy, has been visiting some of Wyoming’s High and Junior High Schools with a focus on student recruitment. UW’s Director of Institutional Communications Chad Baldwin explains that the hook is science.

Most recently, Dale visited students in Sheridan High and Junior High Schools to talk about dark matter in space and the search for exoplanets. Baldwin said that this program ties in with their STEM initiative.

The UW Science Initiative began in 2014 when Governor Matt Mead and the Wyoming Legislature challenged UW to develop a plan to address outdated science laboratories at the college to improve the quality of instruction and research.
