Trustees to View Finalized Master Plan Next Month

Sheridan Memorial Hospital trustees expect to see the final version of a 10-year master plan for the hospital at their meeting in December.

An update on the plan, which is being done by CTA of Billings, was presented to trustees at their meeting earlier this week.

Nyle Morgan, who's the hospital's chief operating officer, explained what the master plan involves. He said CTA looks at the hospital campus, the facilities on campus and any operations that are off-site.

Morgan said the master plan is being finalized at this time. He said all of the hospital, including leadership and staff, has been involved in the process.

Morgan said health care is changing in a big way, shifting away from in-patient care toward more outpatient services. He said outpatient services have been on the rise for a long time, not only at Sheridan Memorial but in hospitals across the country.

He said there have been a lot of technology changes, with people now leaving the hospital the same day after procedures that used to mean hospital stays.

Morgan said more of these types of procedures are done as technology and medicine advance. He said there is a growth nationally in outpatient services, with a corresponding change in the way hospital campuses look.
