Trail End Docent Training Set for Next Week

The Trail End State Historic Site – also known as Kendrick Mansion – will offer docent training next week.

Cynde Georgen, who's district manager of Wyoming's Absaroka district, said the three-hour training session will be next Tuesday from 9 a.m. til noon.

Georgen said about an hour of the training is spent in a walk-through in which the docent trainee plays the part of a student on a tour. She said the students are guided through the house in groups of no more than eight students per docent, which provides a better experience for the students.

She said school tours are primarily in the spring, and the historic site gets quite a few tour groups.

Georgen said Trail End currently has only a handful of docents, possibly around six or seven, and more are always needed.

Tuesday's training is for current docents as well as those who've never been docents. Georgen said there are no requirements other than that the individual be mobile.

Those who plan to attend the training are asked to call Sharie Prout, the Trail End site superintendent, at 674-4589.

Those who would like to be docents but can't attend Tuesday's training session are also asked to call Prout to work out another arrangement.
