When it comes down to high school competition, most folks think about sports. But Saturday, it was time for academics to take the spotlight.

Over one hundred students from schools across Wyoming took part in the 16th Annual Wyoming Academic Challenge, held at Sheridan College.

John Tate, state director for the meet explains the “Jeopardy” style competition.

The competition enhances education as Tate explains.

In addition to letting academics shine, students get the chance to see the different college facilities across Wyoming and meet new friends.

Sheridan College scholarships are awarded to the top overall team, and Tate says it's all about the end product.

The top 18 academic teams will qualify for the state finals to be held at Casper College on April 21st.
