Thursday Night Movies in the Park Nearing a Successful End

Vertical Church is a contemporary church that came to Sheridan earlier this year, and they're becoming known for thinking "outside the box" when it comes to reaching people with the message of God's love. Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson has more.

Throughout the summer, the Vertical Church has been bringing family-friendly movie nights to the Kendrick Park band shell, setting up a giant screen and even bigger speakers on the stage. Wrapped in blankets or wearing jackets and sitting on lawn chairs, people of all ages have gathered on the grass to enjoy a cartoon short, free popcorn and soda, and a feature-length film the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings each month.

I stopped by the park this past week and spoke with one of the pastors at Vertical Church, Michael Ames.

The final Vertical Church Family Movie Night in the Park for 2009 is set for the first Thursday in September, and hopefully the raindrops will stay away from the big screen one last time.
