Volunteers of America will host the annual Turkey Trot Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, at Kendrick Park to benefit Sheridan's Homeless Shelter. VOA Director of Marketing and Special Events, Candace Swanson, says walkers or runners of all ages are welcome to participate with dogs, strollers, and/or turkey outfits.

The event entails four laps around Kendrick Park, or one lap for kids, that will help participants get a head start on burning off excess Thanksgiving Day calories, and the entry fees will go directly to help Sheridan's homeless.

Registration for teh the event starts at 8:45 on Thanksgiving morning, and the race starts at 10. Swanson said last year brought out more than 350 participants.
