The Internal Revenue Service announced in January that the deadline to file your 2010 tax returns this year has been extended to April 18th. This was done in recognition of Emancipation Day, which is an official public holiday in the District of Columbia, although it is not recognized as a holiday by most states in the U.S.

IRS spokesperson for Wyoming, Karen Connelly, says that while there aren't any major changes for this filing season, there are a few that taxpayers need to keep in mind.

Connelly stated that every year they are seeing more and more people e-file their returns, which is much more efficient and not as prone to errors as the classic paper filing.

Connelly said that those who e-file and choose to use direct deposit usually have their return in their account within 7-to-10 business days.
