Sheridan Media's Chris Foy brings us this report as Sheridan County School District 1 Superintendent, Marty Kobza, responds to questions regarding a civil lawsuit in which he is named.

As superintendent of Hot Springs County School District 1 in 2008, current Sheridan County School District 1 Superintendent Marty Kobza was named in a complaint claiming administrators did not create a safe environment for a 6-year-old girl that was sexually assaulted by another student.

In a complaint filed by the young girl's parents, they allege that Kobza and other administrators allowed an unsafe environment for their daughter to exist. According to the complaint, they allowed a single high school student to ride in the same bus with the girl and her classmates to school. The complaint states the young girl was sexually assaulted multiple times over the course of a few weeks during 2008.

The parents state that videotape evidence of one of the alleged assaults shows shows the high school-aged student touching the girl as he covered his actions with his jacket. The parents suggest that the bus driver and her aid were walking down the aisle at the time of the alleged assault - but they failed to notice the behavior and take appropriate action. As such, the parents claim Kobza was negligent in failing to properly supervise, train or discipline the driver or her aid.

On Tuesday's edition of Public Pulse, Kobza responded to the allegations.

Kobza also had this to say.

A jury trial for this case is set for February of 2014. Additionally, the parents of the alleged victim are seeking compensation and punitive damages. Be sure to tune in to Sheridan Media on Thursday for the latest on Sheridan County School District 1's application for a conditional use permit for a proposed community center and tennis facility in Big Horn.
