The Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee recently completed their “markup” of the governor’s proposed budget for the biennium. The JAC elected to cut $45 million from K-12 education funding over the next two years. $15 million in the next fiscal year, and $30 million in the following fiscal year. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow.

The cuts, which still must be approved by the full legislature during the upcoming Budget Session, would come from the School Foundation Account, which is a block grant that guarantees a certain level of funding for all school districts within the state, based on enrollment numbers.
