Street Dances Popular After-Rodeo Event

Most of last week’s events revolved around the Sheridan WYO Rodeo. One of the most popular of those is the pair of annual street dances in downtown Sheridan. Thousands of people attended the dances on Friday and Saturday nights. With that many people on Main Street, security is always an issue. The Sheridan Police Department cancels all vacations during that weekend and has a majority of the force on duty each night. Officer Brian Phillips says their presence does increase the safety of the dances.

Police and Sheridan Fire-Rescue were on hand with a first aid station and handed out water to partiers. Several local bars provided drinks and vendors had food on hand on Grinnell Plaza.

People even had their choice of live music as each end of Main Street hosted performances by a different band.

Liquor license holders are allowed three nights a year that they can have extended hours and so the party didn’t even end until nearly 6:00 Sunday morning.
