St. Labre HS in Montana Delayed by Wildfires

St. Labre Indian Catholic High School in Ashland, Montana will delay the start of its school year until Monday Aug. 29 because of multiple wildfires in the area.

All activities are canceled until that time, and buses are scheduled to run Monday.

The Fork fire located south of Ashland has grown 300 percent from Tuesday burning 10,000 acres in pine, juniper, sagebrush and grass. The Mill fire, 4,500 acres, is 15 miles north of Ashland, and the Little fire, 5,000 acres, is burning 32 miles south of Ashland. All were caused by lightning and all are 10 percent or less contained.

Nearby, the Water Hole fire caused evacuations north of Lame Deer Tuesday evening.
