Whether a beginner or an experienced musician, a class is being offered by local jammer and Bluegrass musician Lynn Young that will focus on the “Wernick Method,” designed for kids and adults alike that will teach the skills necessary to learn to “jam” with other musicians.

Students will jam in small groups and are shown jam protocols, how to lead songs, learn new songs quickly, and are shown the “numbering system” for chord changes and structure, and how to fake a solo “on the fly.”
Finding melodies on their instrument and singing three-part harmonies will be taught as well.

Instructor Lynn Young, who has been teaching the class for a number of years, said he is still surprised at the interest he sees from people wanting to learn the method.

Young said Bluegrass is the basis for the class, but the basic skills learned can apply to almst every other style of music.

The class will be offered every Sunday from October 15th through December 3rd from 2 to 5 in the afternoon at the Buffalo Senior Center.
