The Wyoming Special Olympics begin this Thursday in Cheyenne. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office has participated in the Torch Run leading up to the games for the past several years. Sheridan County Sheriff Dave Hofmeier traditionally rides the first leg of the relay.

A crowd of athletes surrounded the Sheriff for the first half block of the relay yesterday morning.

The Special Olympics Torch will travel to several communities in the state with various law enforcement agencies participating. The torch is due to arrive in Cheyenne on Thursday in time to kick off the 2009 Wyoming Special Olympic Games.
