The Sound of Swedish Music Fills the C-TEL

It wasn't Swedish meatballs or even Swedish Fish that could be found in the C-TEL Presentation Hall at Sheridan College Thursday night, but it was the sweet sound of Swedish music that captured the hearts of the 100-plus audience in attendance.

Keri DeDeo, teaches English at Sheridan College and gave the presentation, “Swedish Stories, Music, and Culture,” as part of the Faculty Lecture Series. DeDeo used the fiddle, violin, and viola, to play a variety of Swedish music that was fun, delightful, engaging the people.

She began playing the violin at age 4. In fact, she could read music before she could read words and when she was 16, as a foreign exchange student to Sweden, she fell in love with the Swedish folk music.

DeDeo came to the point where she realized that it was important and fun to share the joy of Swedish

DeDeo also shared her personal story along with a Swedish folktale.
