Snowy Arbor Day Celebration at the VOA

Not the Best Tree-Planting Weather
Not the Best Tree-Planting Weather

The cold and windy weather did not stop the Volunteers of America crew from planting trees for Arbor Day. Around 80 volunteers, including both community members and Volunteers' clients, planted four trees on Friday and 35 throughout the week. These junipers, ash, spruce and flowering fruit trees which now decorate the landscape around the VOA were all donated by the Apache Foundation, with the goal of restoring some of the native habitat to the area. And VOA Executive Vice President Heath Steel says this is just the beginning of more partnership projects with the community

The fresh produce from the garden will be used to support their work with "Catering for a Cause."
Also, he says they plan to plant over a couple hundred trees over the next five years.
