Sinclair agrees to pay $660,000 for refinery spill

Sinclair Oil Corp. says it has agreed to
pay a $660,000 fine to the Wyoming Department of Environmental
Quality for a spill at a refinery.
Salt Lake City-based Sinclair said in a statement Friday that it
regretted the spill at the refinery in Sinclair and is working with
the state to prevent a recurrence.
The fine will be among the biggest the department has collected
in recent years.
The spill from a storage tank at the refinery last May released
nearly 3 million gallons of a gasoline blend. The spill was
contained to the refinery grounds but presented a significant fire
danger until it was cleaned up.
State officials say it was one of the biggest spills in Wyoming
history.
