Sheridan's Meadowlark School Earns Second Blue Ribbon

Sheridan's Meadowlark Elementary School has been designated an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School for 2019 – the second time Meadowlark has received the Blue Ribbon award in the Exemplary High Performing schools category.

The school, which is operated by Sheridan County School District 2, will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. At that time, representatives of the school will receive a plaque and flag to signify the school's exemplary status.

The Sheridan County School District board of trustees will also host a recognition for the school at the board's Oct. 7 meeting.

Craig Dougherty, who is the school district superintendent, said Meadowlark is one of only two schools from Wyoming to be recognized for the blue ribbon honor in 2019. Nationwide, just over 360 schools have received the designation.

Dougherty said Meadowlark has been a high-performing school for well over a decade. He said the students at the school work hard as learners, and the staff are dedicated to student learning across the board.

He said the school district is proud of the recognition and believe it is well deserved by the whole Meadowlark family.

Along with Meadowlark, School District 2's Sagebrush Elementary is also a two-time Blue Ribbon award winner.

In addition, Dougherty said, the District's other elementary schools – Henry A. Coffeen, Highland Park and Woodland Park – and Sheridan Junior High School have also been recognized as Blue Ribbon schools.
