Sheridan State Legislator Proposes Optional ATM Fee

Republican state legislator, senator Bruce Burns of Sheridan, is sponsoring a draft of a bill that would require ATMs to enable consumers to elect to donate to state parks and historic sites.

The proposal, which was presented to the legislature's Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Interem Committee, is being considered today in a meeting in Rock Springs. Burns told The Associated Press he formulated the idea as a solution to possible budget cuts the state faces.

Burns did not return calls from Sheridan Media to comment further on the issue.
