SHERIDAN, Wyo. – The Sheridan police were forced to kill a mountain lion Friday evening after the animal wandered into town.

Published reports confirm that the police department had received calls from a couple of people who had spotted the mountain lion. The wild cat was found in a residential area, in a vacated alley near the intersection of South Main Street and College Avenue.

Dispatcher Kathy Baker said the mountain lion was treed before being shot, then turned over to an officer with the state Game and Fish Department.
