Sheridan Juveniles Cited for Firearm Incident

The Sheridan Police Department has issued a media release stating that just after 5 pm Tuesday, officers responded to several reports of male subjects in a white Plymouth passenger car driving around the business district brandishing and pointing a handgun at various persons and businesses along the way.

After officers located the vehicle, they initiated a high risk traffic stop in the 50 block area of East 14th Street. Sheridan Police lieutenant Chris Dahmke said that the car contained five male juveniles ranging in age from 14 to 16, and that a black Airsoft-type handgun was found in the vehicle. Dahmke explains that the Airsoft gun had been modified.

Dahmke says that this is the type of an incident could have ended much worse than it did.

Dahmke said that all of the juveniles were cited for Breach of Peace and released to their parents.
