Sheridan Police Department Re-Vamps Prescription Drug Disposal Program

For some time now, the Sheridan Police Department and other entities have had a program in place for residents to bring in old or unwanted prescription drugs to be destroyed. Steve Johnson is the Evidence Technician for the PD, and he tells us that there is a modification to the program now.

Johnson walks us through the disposal process.

He says that the medications are taken to a secure location and then incinerated.

The hours to bring your prescriptions to the Police Department are Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm. Johnson reminds folks never to flush the meds down the toilet, as they can contaminate the groundwater. He adds that the program is not for over-the-counter medications.
