Sheridan PD on Mental Health

Law Enforcement Officials nationwide come into contact with individuals that are experiencing mental health difficulties. Because of this, the Sheridan Police Department has put an emphasis on training their personnel to help those types of individuals according to Chief Rich Adriaens.

All officers at the Sheridan Police Department go through basic training for these types of incidents and many go through more specialized trainings as well. Chief Adriaens said that they have a focus on helping those in need of mental health assistance before they get to a point where they would harm themselves or others.

Anyone who is feeling like they need help managing their mental health or anyone who knows of someone that might, are encouraged to contact the Sheridan Police Department. Sheridan Police Lt. Tom Ringley said that they would much rather help someone catch the problem before it escalates than arrest them when it does. To hear the discussion with Chief Adriaens and Lt. Ringley in its entirety, click here
