Sheridan Man Taken Into Custody After Firing Guns From His Home

UPDATE -- A Sheridan man arrested Wednesday after firing a number of guns in his home on Spaulding Street has been identfied as Adam Charles Helvik.

A news release from Police Lt. Travis Koltiska said the 29-year-old was booked in the Sheridan County Detention Center on a charge of reckless endangering, which is a misdemeanor. Koltiska said he doesn’t know when Helvik will make an initial appearance in circuit court.

Helvik was taken into custody shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after police received a report of a man firing guns from the front porch of his house. According to Koltiska, Helvik stepped out onto the front porch of the house with a handgun when police arrived. He was ordered to drop the firearm, which he did, and was arrested without incident.

A Sheridan man has been taken into custody after firing a number of guns in his home near the corner of West 9th and Spaulding Streets. Sheridan Police received a report shortly after 12:30 this afternoon of a man firing guns from the front porch of his house. The name and age of the individual has not yet been released.
