Sheridan Man Makes Initial Appearance In Court On Burglary Charges

Sheridan Police arrested 24-year-old Jacob Sears for allegedly breaking into a vehicle over the weekend. Sears made his initial appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court yesterday. Judge John Sampson set a $1,500 cash-only bond for the defendant.

Sears is accused of entering a vehicle in the Best Western Sheridan Center parking lot on Friday. A police bike patrol officer was riding through the area and saw a pair of legs sticking out of the passenger side of a white Chevrolet HHR with Montana license plates.

Sears did not have permission to enter the vehicle. The vehicle’s owner was located and determined the vehicle contents had been disturbed, although nothing appeared to be missing.

If convicted, Sears could spend 10 years in prison, receive a $10,000 fine or both.
