Sheridan Man Goes to Jail for Robbery

A man from Sheridan has been sentenced to 2 1/2 to five years in prison for robbing a pharmacy in Casper.

Derek Wood was sentenced Thursday for robbing the pharmacy at an Albertson's grocery store on Nov. 18. He was initially charged with aggravated robbery, but prosecutors reduced the charge to robbery as part of a plea deal.

Authorities say Wood pulled back his jacket, during the robbery, and showed the clerk the handle of a gun. The employee filled a prescription and called police when the man left.

An employee recognized the suspect as a previous customer, and Wood was questioned when he returned to the store about a week after the robbery. Police say the robbery was carried out with a toy gun.
