Sheridan County School District 2 Board Recognizes Two Ends of Extra-Curriculum Spectrum

At Monday night's Sheridan County School Board February meeting, members of Sheridan High School's All-State Orchestra attended. Those in the audience were treated to Wynton Grant's and Megan Jenkins' duet, which many agreed would have been preferred to continuing with regular board business.

Orchestra teacher Rasmik Sarkissian told the Board of Trustees that in the past 20 years, Sheridan High School string students have comprised 30% or more of the All-State orchestras.

Following this music program's recognition, Assistant Superintendent Terry Burgess introduced District Activities Director and Sheridan Bronc head football coach Don Julian as the Coach of the Year. Typical of Julian's humble spirit, he spent the whole time at the podium introducing and honoring his entire coaching staff.

And of the six or so assistant coaches in the room, three of them are anticipating their wives giving birth in the next few months, prompting Julian to quip, "we're trying to build our own program."
