Sheridan County Moving Forward on DeSmet Deal Alone

Sheridan County Moving Forward on DeSmet Deal Alone

The Sheridan County Commissioners announced today they are planning to make a 99-year lease agreement with the Game and Fish Department concerning water in Lake DeSmet without Johnson County. Sheridan County Commissioner, Bob Rolston, explains.

Rolston said Johnson County did have commissioner present at this afternoon's meeting with the Game and Fish, but he did not speak or otherwise indicate Johnson County was reconsidering the proposal. This means Sheridan County will lease its 45 percent of the water rights alone. Sheridan County officials have a preliminary lease agreement for negotiation and editing. The drop dead date for the deal between Sheridan County and the G&F is Oct. 13.
