For the third time in five years, Sheridan College has been included in the “Community College Week” special report identifying the fastest growing community colleges in the nation. Sheridan College was ranked number 23 in the 2014 report.

Sheridan College President Dr. Paul Young says that he's pulling for legislation this session that would change the funding formula for the state's community colleges to accommodate for enrollment growth.

Young said that the report placed the college in a category of similar sized institutions, enrolling 2,500 to 4,999 students. He added that the report is based on the change in enrollment from the fall of 2012 to the fall of 2013, where the college had an increase of 4.7 percent during that time.

Young stated that “if we don't start preparing now by adding capacity to serve these future students, we risk losing an entire generation of economic productivity. If they end up going someplace else for school, the odds are this is where they will stay for work.”
