Sheridan College Faculty Lecture Explores Ancient Eruption

This Thursday, Bjarne Kristiansen, Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology instructor at Sheridan College, will give a lecture titled “Mount Toba: Apocalypse or Advantage?” in Whitney Academic Center, Room 153. Kristiansen’s presentation depicts the period immediately before and after the Toba event, which very nearly wiped humanity from the face of the Earth.

This event is part of the Sheridan College Faculty Lecture Series, in which the college will host usually four lectures a year, according to Dee Davis, office manager for the Sheridan College Foundation and member of the Faculty Lecture Series planning committee. Davis describes how the Faculty Lecture Series benefits both the college and the community.

The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Any and all curious minds are encouraged to attend, and Sheridan College will also be hosting more faculty lectures in the future which will expand to other topics.
