Sheridan City Council Approves Land Purchase

The Sheridan City Council held their first meeting of 2011 Monday night. The meeting began with the Council acknowledging outgoing Councilor Marc Ketcham, and his eight years of service to the City. After which, Councilors' Robert Webster, John Heath, and Alex Lee were sworn in for their four year terms.

The Council then approved a resolution supporting Developer Steve Grimshaw's request to submit an application to the Wyoming Business Council for a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $250,000. The grant request is to pay for surface infrastructure for the Quail Ridge Apartments in northwest Sheridan. Quail Ridge is a proposed independent living 54-unit apartment for those 55 years and older.

The Council tabled a request from Summit Housing Group Inc. out of Missoula, Montana, to approve a letter of support to the Wyoming Community Development Authority for funding of two separate affordable housing developments off of West 5th Street in Northwest Sheridan.

After a brief executive session, the Council convened to take action on some good news concerning the area known as South Park. City of Sheridan Public Works Director Nic Bateson.

The City purchased the property from the Wilkerson's in the amount of $11,429, and will pay for the land with One Cent funds that are specifically identified for the purchase of land, and cannot be used for any other purpose.
