Sheridan City Council to Address Fiber Optics Tonight

The Sheridan City Council will have only one item of business to consider this evening, as there are no items under old business and just one under new business. First reading of ordinance 2125 will come before the Council this evening. It pertains to an arrangement between Sheridan County School District Two and United Private Networks to connect all of the District Facilities by a dedicated private fiber optic network.

The network will be run in the city right of way utilizing both above and below ground installations. City Council President John Heath.

The unknowns that Heath referred to are gaps in language detailing the franchise fee, use of the fees and method of installation. Staff however is recommending that Council approve the ordinance on first reading to keep the process moving forward and the remaining details can be worked out prior to it being considered on second reading at the first Council meeting in May.

Tonight's Sheridan City Council meeting will take place at 7 o'clock on the third floor of City Hall in Council Chambers. The meeting will also be broadcast live on AM 1410 KWYO.
