Sheridan to Celebrate the Arts Next Week

Concerts, art exhibits and other special events are planned next week during Celebrate the Arts Week in Sheridan.

Activities start next Wednesday, April 24, with a spring dance showcase at Whitney Center for the Arts.

Kim Love, who's chairman of the Sheridan Public Arts committee, said Celebrate the Arts started about 15 years ago then had a hiatus for a couple of years.

Love said the decision was made last year to expand the event over several days and involve more of the arts organizations in the community. He said at that time, Celebrate the Arts became a five-day event that involved Ucross and the Whitney Center for the Arts as well as the public arts committee.

He said this year, Celebrate the Arts will include the Brinton Museum as well, so that now, all of the major arts organizations in Sheridan County are working together.

In addition to the spring dance showcase, Sheridan College's Whitney Center for the Arts will also host a jazz concert on April 25.

On April 26, events move to the WYO Theater for an appearance by the Kingston Trio in Concert, and on April 27, the Brinton Museum will host Ergo Sum: a Crow a Day, a touring exhibit by Karen Bondarchuk.

Other events coming up include an artist-led workshop and artist reception and talks at Ucross on April 28, then on April 29, a reception at Sage Community Arts for Tony Hochstetler.

Also on April 29, this month's Dining for a Cause at Frackelton's restaurant will benefit Celebrate the Arts.
