A pretrial conference was held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a 23-year-old Gillette man charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

It appears likely that the case against Joshua Hannant is headed to trial as both Sheridan County Attorney Dianna Bennett and Defense Attorney Steven Titus stated in Court Thursday that it is unlikely that a plea agreement would be reached between the two sides.

According to court documents, the alleged sexual abuse occurred at a residence in Sheridan in April of this year while the alleged victim was extremely intoxicated. The two-day trial is scheduled to begin in District Court at 9 am on Monday, December 9. The crime of First Degree Sexual Abuse is punishable by 5 to 50 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
