Services Planned for Murdered Son of Sheridan Couple

A memorial service for Elijah Siler is scheduled for 11 o'clock eastern time today at Brownsville Assembly of God, 3100 W. Desoto St. in Pensacola, FL. Elijah, or "Eli" as he was called by family and friends, was the son of Sheridan residents George and Patricia Siler. He was gunned down on a Pensacola street on October 4th, and died of his wounds last Wednesday.

The Pensacola News Journal reports that police have made no arrests in connection with the shooting. On Saturday, Pensacola Police Department Assistant Chief Chip Simmons said investigators have a few leads, but still are trying to piece together what happened.

Saying that there is "so little information right now," Simmons indicated that the department is "still trying to follow up on the last few hours of what Siler was doing, who he was with, and go from there." Simmons adds that they "do know a lot of what he was doing. But to pinpoint with any amount of specificity where he was at any given time, it's still too early."

George Siler told the Pensacola News Journal that the family had moved to Pensacola in 2000 so he could attend the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry. He graduated from the school in 2004 and later moved to Sheridan with Patricia. Eli and his three siblings stayed in Pensacola.

George Siler said family members are "still trying to understand why someone would kill Elijah," as the shooter did not take his wallet, ring, phone or any other personal belongings or valuables.
