Senior Center Observes Anniversary

The Sheridan Senior Center will observe its 40th anniversary over lunchtime Tuesday with a cake, balloons and music from 11 until 1.

The event will be open to the public at the facility on Smith Street. Center Director Carmen Rideout said the celebration marks the day – Dec. 17 – in 1973, when the Senior Citizens Coordinating Council signed its articles of incorporation.

The senior center director said after Tuesday's observance, the center will spend the whole year of 2014, looking back at its history and achievements.
