House Bill 236, the omnibus education funding bill, passed third reading in the Wyoming Senate late Wednesday and is currently in the House of Representatives for concurrence.

State Senator Dave Kinskey of Sheridan says that he co-sponsored an amendment to the bill that lessened the amount of the cut that was being proposed.

Kinskey said that with the legislative session expected to wrap-up today, the amendments to HB 236 must be agreed upon by the House by the end of the day to make it to Governor Matt Mead’s desk for signage.

Kinskey said the other education funding bill, Senate File 165, failed to move forward in the House. Senator Kinskey’s proposed constitutional amendment, Senate Joint Resolution 9 was postponed indefinitely by the House Education Committee earlier this week. We’ll have more on SJR 9 for you in an upcoming story.
