Senator Enzi: No Child Left Behind Reforms Not Perfect, But a Good Start

U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, the ranking member on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, made the following statement Wednesday during the Committee's mark-up of the Elementary and Secondary Education Re-authorization Act of 2011.

Enzi has been working on reforms to the No Child Left Behind Act for the past year with Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa.

The bill under consideration is in day one of a legislative mark-up, a process meant to amend legislation in a committee before it is considered for passage and then sent to the Senate floor.

Nothing in the bill is finalized and senators from both sides of the aisle have promised to offer many amendments upon consideration by the full Senate.
