U.S. Senator John Barrasso recently spoke with Sheridan Media about a number of issues on the national political scene, including border security. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Thursday, the U.S. Senate, behind a dozen Republican Senators, voted 59-41 in favor of a resolution to block President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration to fund construction of a border wall with Mexico. The Senate action was short lived, as Friday afternoon, President Trump vetoed the resolution, his first veto of his presidency. I spoke with U.S. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming Friday about the Senate rebuke that occurred Thursday.

Barrasso talked about the importance of securing our borders.

Now that President Trump has vetoed the resolution, it goes back to the U.S. House of Representatives, where it will be addressed after the week-long Congressional break. Barrasso said that he expects the veto to be sustained as the House doesn’t have the two-thirds vote to override the President’s veto.
