U.S. Senator for Wyoming Mike Enzi serves as the Chairman for the Senate Budget Committee. Monday, he released a statement as the Senate begins to debate the balanced budget resolution. Enzi said that last week the Senate Budget Committee took the first step by reporting out a balanced budget, and that this week the next step will be to find a way to best make the government live within its means.

Enzi said that time is running out and that if something isn’t done soon, “our nation will overspend by $1 trillion a year. Enzi went on to say that “24 states have already passed a Constitutional Balanced Budget Amendment, and there are 10 more working on it. If all of these states pass similar measures, we will have 34 states calling for a Constitutional Convention and we will be forced to act.”
