SCSD2 Board Hears Elementary School Updates

The five elementary school principals from District 2 each gave enthusiastic presentations about their respective schools to the Board of Trustees at their monthly meeting Monday night.

As part of their annual elementary updates, principals showcased impressive PAWS scores, and told the board what their goal to improve those already-high scores for the upcoming school year will be. Director of Elementary Education for District 2, Scott Stults.

Stults said that the PAWS results for the five schools for reading, writing and math for third, fourth, and fifth grades were the best in the state. He added that eight of the nine areas tested across the schools in District 2 were in the 90th percentile.

Also, numbers for Kindergarten are up this year, Superintendent Craig Dougherty said at the meeting, with 312 Kindergarten students enrolled in District 2 schools to begin the school year.

We will have details from the Coffeen, Sagebrush, Woodland Park, Highland Park, and Meadowlark school principal presentations for you each day this week. PAWS scores will be posted with each school's story.
