SCSD#2 Approves Next Year's Budget

The Sheridan County School District #2's board of trustees approved their FY13 budget last night, which totaled $65,133,000. The General fund encompassed a $44 million revenue budget and $45 million expenditure budget. These numbers represent an overall three percent increase in costs compared to last year. Items that contributed to budget adjustments this year include larger student populations at the elementary level, the addition of a breakfast program at the Junior High, and employee pay raises, which were approved by the board this spring. Roxie Taft, business manager for the district, expressed gratitude to the State of Wyoming, who will be providing 67 percent of general funds this year.

Taft calculates total educational costs per student at $14,306 per year.
