SCSD#1 Approves FY2013 Budget

Sheridan County School District #1 approved their $14.4 million operations budget Wednesday night.

Business manager for the district, Jeremy Smith, said that while the district isn't exactly swimming in cash, it's getting by.

Smith said approximately 72 percent of general funds to the district will be supplied by the state's school funding program. An area of concern in the district was the the proposed cuts to the school system's art program.

Smith said the district plans to offer more diverse classes to next year's students, which include vocational training and new extracurricular activities. While the staff of the district did not see a pay raise for the second year in a row, they did get a small enhancement to their health benefits package.
