UPDATE: Flood Warning Downgraded

A flood warning issued early Thursday by the National Weather Service has been downgraded to a flood watch.

Buffalo May Be Declared Disaster Area

We now have information coming in from Buffalo about the damage caused there by the overnight rainstorm. Johnson County's Public Information Officer Marcy Schueler issued a release saying that the Red Cross is on its way from Sheridan to conduct a damage assessment. If warranted, she said, the town mayor may declare a disaster for Buffalo.

Buffalo Man Killed While Walking Along Highway

A man from Buffalo was struck and killed Wednesday by a vehicle while walking along a state highway east of Gillette and the driver of the vehicle that struck him was charged with DUI.

FLOOD UPDATE: I90 Open, Flood Warning Continues Through Saturday

Interstate 90 between Buffalo and Gillette that was closed overnight due to flooding was reopened this morning around 8. And all roads leading in and out of Buffalo and some in Sheridan County are now dry. An unnecessary travel warning had been issued overnight for both Interstates 90 and 25.

As local police make their plans to cover the security for the upcoming country music festival in Sheridan, organizers are busy coordinating the lineup.

Storm Appears Localized

UPDATE: Little Goose Creek remained at minor flood stage shortly after 8 this morning, and no other problems were reported from the storm that hit Sheridan County overnight.

Local law enforcement have been busy gearing up for this year’s Big Horn Country USA music festival that will take place at the Trails End Concert Park in Sheridan June 18 through the 20.
